MINDFULNESS AND YOGA eDUCATION FOR TEENS (MYE)

WITH LINDSAY GIBSON

Dates: Wednesdays, September 14th- December 21st, 5:00-6:00pm

Ages 13-18 years old.

We know at Majestic Yoga Studio that being a teen can be very stressful! Whether it's school, friends, dating - the teen years are full of difficult challenges. Finding a balanced way to deal with stress and worry can be hard. The Mindfulness and Yoga Education (MYE) Program offers a curriculum that fosters personal development in a light hearted and lively group setting. In this hour long class, we will focus on mindfulness training, breathing, yoga, and journaling - all skills that help teens manage stress, anxiety, and worry. Class is limited to 10 students.

Your Teen’s daily life and important events will be better when they develop the ability to:
• Learn how to label strong emotional states (“Name it to tame it”)
• Orienting and “anchoring” to sound, sight and the external environment (an easy way to engage the parasympathetic nervous system when a student is getting stuck in sympathetic/fight-flight arousal).
• Working with the breathing sense in various ways to promote grounding and centering.
• Practicing Yoga and movement to connect to the body and mind in a healthy and safe way.
• Stepping into difficult situations rather than avoid them.
Class is limited to 10 students

Doing yoga at home is considered a vital part of deepening your personal practice. We will give you tools and building blocks to help you build your at home practice. In addition, a few Majestic students will share with you how they get over the hurdles.
This free event is made possible by The Yoga Training and Research Institute.
Please register in advance as the class size is limited to 20 students.

A follow up practice will be on Saturday, February 4th, from 1:00 - 2:15.

OCTOBER URBAN RETREAT

WITH LINDSAY GIBSON & ADRIANNE VINCENT

Date:  Saturday, January 7th, 1:00pm- 4:00pm

An Urban Retreat is time we take away from our everyday stresses in life to focus on ourselves. Taking a break from social media, our phones, eating unhealthy foods and the hustle and bustle of modern life. It is a time to create intention to go within, release the stresses, and to recharge our mind and body. It is a reset where we practice yoga and meditate, eat nourishing foods to heal and balance the body. A retreat is a gift to yourself that supports overall wellbeing mentally, physically and spiritually. Post-retreat you should feel grounded, centered, taller, and inspired to eat healthier, think healthier and live healthier. It is like hitting a reset button! You should feel inspired to continue with the tools you will learn at The Urban Retreat. You'll leave with new friendships and resources that will forever support you on your personal and spiritual journey. The afternoon will combine meditation, breath work, and yoga practice that is transformative, natural and profound and to help us find balance in our everyday lives. Warm soup and bread will be served to nourish our souls.
